Medicine4ukraine

When war broke out between Russia and Ukraine in spring 2022, Intercultural Relations e.V. responded immediately. Within the first week, we collected donations and transported urgently needed items, including medicines and toys for children, across the border to Ukraine in a minibus. Thanks to our project initiators Hendrik Schilling and Lennart Kinzel and the generous donations, the medical items, mainly painkillers, infusions and hygiene products, safely reached the destination hospital in Sokiryansk, in the south of Ukraine. As an organisation, we were thus able to make a small contribution to maintaining supplies to the ‘Sokiryansk’ hospital in the first days of the war until international aid was established.

SDG Workshops for namibian teachers

The ‘Educate SDGs - Live SDGs’ project began in 2019 with the aim of training teachers in the Khomas Region, Namibia, in the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). During school exchanges, in which Intercultural Relations e.V. Namibia was involved, it emerged that knowledge of the SDGs was not yet very well developed among teachers in Namibia. In cooperation with the Directorate of Education, Arts, and Culture, 114 teachers were trained until 2022 to integrate the SDGs into school lessons. Despite challenges such as a shortage of teachers and organisational delays due to the pandemic, the implementation was successful. The training courses took place at the Habitat Research and Development Centre and were supported by German and Namibian partners. The participation of a UN representative and positive feedback from various ministries emphasise the importance and success of our project.
